California Car Body

All this cold weather in New York City, Harlem and the Bronx, NY has me dreaming of warmer climates. Florida is nice, but it rains too much, so the hottest fantasy still remains Southern California. It sounds like a great thing, but I'm too much of a New Yorker to leave for California, at least so far. A friend of mine came in recently from Corona, California, a large city and municipality in Riverside County, by the so-called Inland Empire.

One thing that makes me decide to not leave New York is that we still have so much public transportation and of course our wonderful NY City Subway. In California, you really have to drive everywhere, and there is always the possibility that your car will break down. That is what happened to this dude a while before he visited me. He had to call auto body corona which wasn't that expensive, but if you drive all the time, something is going to happen eventually. You are likely to break down in the hot desert sun in the middle of nowhere, and just hope and pray that your cell phone has coverage in the area and that you can summon a tow truck.

California sounds like a great place to be, but the question is, are there going to be jobs there. The California boom has collapsed, starting with the real estate boom, and with Gov. Schwarznegger in power, it is overall a scary situation. So, like the song says, California rest in peace. I'll stay up in cold New York City for a while. At least it's warmer than Chicago, Illinois.
