Summers Vacation, Larry Summers, Ft. Meyers

Before you go off to your summer vacation, remember about Larry Summers in Washington DC, Anyway, have you considered a real environmental vacation, collecting seashells off of Ft. Meyers Florida, and going to Sanibel Island, and also Cayo Costa Island and others. Some shells are seen only once in 30 years by veteran shell collectors, like the Scotch Bonnet, and Genonia Shells. The Red Baby Mangroves grow by the beach and soon will be able to shelter the islands. These are barrier islands on the Gulf Coast of Florida, near Ft. Meyers. The best part of shelling in this area is that you can totally lose yourself and be preoccupied for hours by the environment. Other shells seen are the flat scallop shell, check it out.

Hopefully, when you get back, President Obama will fire Larry Summers as Economic advisor and get back to reality.

Earth Day and Harlem Dudes and Dudettes

Earth Day has been around since a bit after the publication of the "Limits to Growth Book" by D. Meadows, et al. and an MIT team. This report used linear computer models to prove that mass genocide of the human population was inevitable. Instead, in reality, progressive installations of nuclear power and fusion power have been stopped by a malthusian, oligarchical conspiracy. Read Lyndon Larouche's book "There are No Limits to Growth."

Yes, it is Earth Day again. We can masturbate about the different sub-species that have disappeared. The brown owl is fine, but the spotted owl is in trouble, so let's destroy all infrastructure development. Are you a little tired of this reasoning.

Now with the real crash of the economy hitting, can we afford this malarky anymore? Global Warming stories abound, then we hear that NASA admits that the Arctic is freezing up more than ever. This is the ice age of human sanity I think.

New York Times Hits Charlie Rangel

The New York Times is hitting Charlie Rangel again, the head of the House Ways and Means Committee.  Do we detect a little racism?  There have been a stream of petty scandals against Charlie Rangel.  The biggest of them involved a couple of thousand in allegedly owed taxes from a time-share on a Dominican Republic beach condo.  This was a big nothing.  Why does the New York Times want to get rid of the leading Congressman from New York City?  It is racism, combined with a hatred of the Franklin Roosevelt Democratic tradition.  The crimes of the times continue, back to when they preferred Adolf Hitler.

Going to the Bronx Zoo

Thinking of going to the zoo today with my son. the Bronx zoo is nice. But it is awfully expensive. It is $15 per adult to get in, plus $12 more for the works, the trams the special exhibits. The Bronx Zoo and the NY Botanical Gardens are so expensive that they have turned into mostly tourist spots. Outside of Yankee Stadium, these two places are where you are going to see the most Anglo-Saxon "white" people to be found hanging out in the South, South, South Bronx!

Harlem- Get Your Motown Stars on a Celebrity Cruise

This is your chance, Harlem and Bronx NY dudes to get your Motown Stars live on a cruise from HeatwaveCelebrityCruise.com. The Heat Wave Celebrity cruise sails from Miami Florida to Cozumel, Mexico from January 7th to 11th, 2010. The weather is guaranteed to be warm, and the music will be hot. Celebrity guest invitees include the Four Tops, the Vandellas, Mary Wilson and the Temptations. Of course, hearing those names I go into an immediate flash back to the good old days, before the world looked so difficult. It's like a heatwave, burning in my heart... and it's tearing me apart. If you can take a bit of vacation and fly down to Miami, Florida, this could be the cruise of a lifetime.

The ship is the "Navigator of the Seas," a 138,000 ton ship of fun. The ship has been afloat since 2002 and can hold about 3,000 passengers. The cruise is a round-trip, with Cozumel Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula, sticking out towards Miami. Our friend Duke guarantees that the Four Tops will be there and some other of our Motown idols to perform and get us into the groove.

Are Dancing Videos Hot, Harlem?

I have a whole bunch of dance videos and I wonder if they appeal to people in Harlem and the Bronx. This is classical style dance, like the Rhumba, the foxtrot, jive, waltz, that kind of stuff. This is the real "Dance with the Stars" and I am wondering if these videos are marketable. I got them from my boss at my job, and he wants to see if I can sell them. The videos are kind of exciting and professionally made, I just wonder if there is a demand for this.

For example, I have a video of instruction on how to do the Rhumba. The Rhumba is a slow and sensuous dance. It is much slower than the samba, and classic principles of dance apply. Rhythm, smooth movement and coordination between a pair is essential. It is a very pleasant art form, along with its fellow events in the Blackpool Competition, the Samba, the Jive, the Bossa Nova and that other dance, it escapes me now. Oh, I know, the other one is the Cha Cha. This fellow who dances in one of the videos, Paul Killick is an Englishman who went on the English version of Dancing with the Stars in 2005.

Monster Republic Gives Your Kid the Look

What Harlem and Bronx, NY parent doesn't want to have their boy with a trendy look. That can be ironic, and a bit on the Halloween side too, with clothes by monster republic. The look you can get at http://www.rsavenue.com is very trendy and sort of rock 'n roll, but nice. I kind of dug the Black Transformer T-shirt, available at the price of $38.00, for its spaced out look. It's not a rock star, but it's more like a cartoon character on steroids. There is a black background, and the front figure of the monster transformer and fighter is surrounded by flames. It's the perfect shirt for your 10-year old to wear while he is playing Cowboys and Indians. OK, I admit that the look is sort of kooky, but I like it. What parent wants their kid to wear the same-old stuff all of the time?

Another shirt that I like, also from the Monster Republic line is the spider shirt. I know that my kid is not even 3-years-old yet and he loves a shirt with a dinosaur on it. How much more is he going to adore a big giant spider! All boys seem to love living things, my kid already loves going to the zoo and seeing all the animals. Spiders are very geometric in design, and the one of this shirt is totally huge. The spider is in black, the sleeves are black and the background for the spider is a light tan, giving a perfectly creepy effect. Your boy and you are going to dig it! You might think that it is a little on the creepy side, but if you have a good look at what is in Children's comic books, Japanese-style Anime, and children's television, you can see what they like.

Show at BAAD was very Trendy

The show at BAAD was very trendy. BAAD- Bronx Academy of the Arts and Dance- is geared to the smart gay and lesbian set, and their straight admirers, friends and voyeurs. On another level, the show spoke of the universal human anguish of not being able to belong, to wanting to be accepted. Sargenta G relives that moment in song and rap of when she was 16 and had her first girlfriend, how she was in conflict with her family and her peers. Her plea is very much in the tradition of the Catholic religion of her Dominican background.

The second act, of Ms. Chaney Simms was more of a traditional blues act. Chaney said that the song refers to her lesbian relationships, but any love song can really be about any one. She did put on a very bluesy act.

In general BAAD is a very intimate performance space and/or club. People literally get to see the performers from 5 to 25 feet away, and it's very intimate. Something for Harlem boys and girls too, since it is just over the Harlem River bridges, like the Willis Ave. Bridge.

Notion 3 Web Design for Harlem Dudes

You have to go all the way to webdesign Denver for the creative services of your dreams. http://www.notion3.com is the new website of this Denver, Col. based creative company. They are quite proud of the websites that they have recently designed, such as the MyNerd911, and you can get the details and the links on their website. There are a lot of links and websites to go to once you go to the Notion 3 website, and you may want to buy something or may not, but you will definitely get some new ideas.

The key concept that is gone over again and again in the daily notion section of the website is the necessity of good graphic design. Think of New York City without its iconic places that everyone in the world wants to learn about. The Apollo Theater for example on 125th st. is not just a refurbished landmark, but it symbolizes all of the creativity of New York, primarily but not exclusively of African-Americans. Likewise our graphic symbols like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. The sad departure of the World Trade Center set shockwaves throughout the world. These are the issues that are addressed by Website Design in Denver. You just can't make it any more only by verbal communications, with the new internet technologies available and everyone spending hours a week staring at them, maybe hours a day. You make a poster, you type a letter, you make a business logo and then- you get it online. People see something hot online, some great picture or logo, and before you know it they are printing it up and giving it out as a leaflet. They do this not because they are paid, but because they love the graphics and want to get out the message. That's real graphic design.

BAAD Show, "Lift Every Voice" April 11th

I saw the BAAD show, and the echoes have not gone away yet. Quite a show for the South Bronx, and near to Harlem. Who would have thought that "Hollis, Queens" was such a poetically evocative place? That is the tag line in the signature song by the Mahina Movement, called "Black, and White Together." I guess all people of all colors and persuasions enjoy a little angst. That is what Mahini Movement gave to us, at the 70-person hall called "BAAD" in the South Bronx, Hunts Point, 841 Barretto St. in the old American Banknote Building. Also appearing was Sargenta G, doing her lesbian-dominican numbers (actually the name of one of her songs) and Ms. Chaney Simms, along with Daddy Bill Simms on piano and guitar, and singing that down-home blues. I liked the "Sister" song from the Color Purple.

R.I.P with a Bronze Grave Marker, Harlem

Harlem, you can rest in peace with BronzeMarkersAndPlaques.com, which is a family-owned bronze foundry. This is direct factory prices and cast bronze plaques are a stand alone monument or a nice addition to a basic stone marker. Check out the variety of bronze memorial plaques that are available and compare the low prices to the competition. Your deceased loved one can have the best at low prices, with as many words that can fit, such as poems, and biblical verses. You get digital art work too, to completely fill the design space. Bronze grave markers are a stand alone marker, or an additional marker on a grave site.

When I went to the photo gallery at BronzeMarkersAnd Plaques.com I saw how these beautiful bronze plaques can be glued on and in the middle of a large boulder and give a beautiful feel of remembrance forever to the departed of us Bronx and Harlem NY homeboys and girls.

Cash in on the Banana Leaf Currency

How are we going to save the jobs in lower Manhattan? Even lawyers are getting fired and laid off. Maybe there is really a shortage of money to cover all those derivatives. What if no country not even the USA can get its tax payers to openly fund all this. Why not have the IMF make the Banana Leaf a currency, shall we say. That ought to get the greenie vote. A banana leaf over the debt bubble of 30 years is where it's at!!!

Isn't time to give up the United States dollar, and become a banana republic? This may seem far fetched, but it is part of the discussion at the last G-20 meeting. Don't blame this on Obama or even G. Bush. It's the system, and we have to have the courage to break with the system, or else. After all, Larry Summers is "an honorable man." C'mon Harlem dudes, let's save the nation.
