You never know, you may tear down a Harlem NY eyesore and want to put up a real house in the city, New York City. Harlem or the Bronx, where plots of land are a little bigger, might be perfect for a little cottage. Just make sure that you want to live there. The era of real estate speculation may not be totally over, but it is very dangerous territory these days. So many houses are being thrown into the discount market and the foreclosure market. Another option is to buy land in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania, which are not very high mountains, or in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Get some good house plans and your new home can be really nice. There the land is much cheaper and you are paying just for building the house primarily. Having a nice house is less important in the Bronx and Harlem, NYC, NY than a lot of other places. After all, there is always so much to do, and you probably spend fewer hours in your house than lots of other people. Where else in the world do we have as remarkable a subway system as we do in New York City. The Big Apple is indeniably the most beautiful place in the world. On the other hand, if you have kids it is nice to have a large house or apartment where they can comfortably play. A too crowded house or apartment may tempt young children to go out into the street too much and get drawn into street life, with all its dangers of gangs, drugs and random sexual encounters. So if you are thinking of building a house, go for it, because there are many advantages in doing so, if you can afford it. Life is a series of opportunities and dangers that we all must navigate through, especially in NY, NY.
