Fighting for Jobs with Good Grooming

Mark Jeffries is the best selling author of the book, What's Up with Your Handshake, and he is working with Gillette on these issues of grooming and style. So is GQ style correspondent, Brett Fahlgren giving advice to get you on the inside track and information at the Gillette Resource Center. It would be also worth your time guys, I mean gentlemen, to check out the Gillette Career Advantage website.

If you want to fight in the tough job market, men, you better use all the tools of good grooming. It seems from a recent survey that was sponsored by Gillette, that the overwhelming majority of Human Resources pros agree that good grooming is an essential prerequisite in the rat race. You have to look good to move on up, or even to get a job in the first place.

Looking good, as well as feeling good and being optimistic is a critical determinant of whether you are going to make it guys. With women competing in the professional workplace more than ever, guys you really got to get your guard on and watch your back. Missing the proper look can really kill you and hit you where it hurts.

This is not only a rap about good shaving practices, since other personal appearance factors come into play. These go from a proper haircut, a neat and well-fitting suit and tie, or sportsjacket, tie and slacks, and of course other basics like controlling body odor. Hey guys, deep down we know you're a natural born animal-type, with all sorts of desires and whims, but in the business world, you have to get yourself together. So keep your eye on the prize and hold on.
