Warren Buffet, Brothers Pass that Bailout
Yes, my brothers and sisters in Harlem, NY, you have to pass that bail out for me, Warren Buffet, and my company, Berkshire Hathaway. Like you I have faced prejudice in my life, and I want you to know I have no racism against black or any people. I may be one of the richest men in the world, but I'm a regular guy. If you pass Paulson's $1 trillion bailout bill, I promise to do what I can to help poor people in Harlem and the Bronx. Sure there is a lot of development for the rich, and a 2-bedroom apartment costs over $800,000 in many places. Never mind, there will be a least 100 subsidized apartments for people with low salaries of up to $150,000, for every zip code district in Harlem. And 125th st, between Related, other developers and Columbia University is becoming so glitzy. Even if you get thrown out of Harlem, you can still visit. So pass the bailout, brothers and sisters, we shall come over.

Harlem NY Needs a Massage from Takemi
How about going to a Takemi Select Wholesale Outlet and get a good massage. Would you be happy if you could get a guaranteed great massage every night? No, this does not mean you have to change your sweet Harlem NY significant other. It means getting the new 2009 Takemi Select 3D Jade Melody 12000 Comfort Masseuse. This little piece of equipment, actually a luxury recliner chair has some nifty features, like: a massage Cushion w/ Purchase, 3D Padding In Lounger, Jade Heat & MP3 Player Built In, adjustable Temperature Settings and also 4-Wheel Driven Massage that goes up and down, back and forth. It has airbags built throughout the surface that massages your poor painful, tortured body. Best of all, you don't have to change your wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, you have a new "friend" who gives you a massage every day. Just don't forget to plug it in. Your New York neck, Bowery back, and Harlem heinee, will feel good all over!

Art Show at Gallery M, in Harlem NY, Sat, Sun, Oct 4- 5th
Pictures: Art by Aleathia Brown and friends, shown recently on a Motthaven, Bronx street tour. Now she is at Gallery M, 123 West 135th St, NY, NY , 212-234-4106.
Saturday 10/4 and Sunday 10/5, 1- 6 pm.
I got a postcard from a sometime acquaintance, Aleathia Brown, and her original art work. She is having an opening at the SAC, the Strivers Art Circuit, which is part of HOAST, the Harlem Open Artist Studio Tour.
I've seen Alethia's work on a street tour of Mott Haven, from the Bronx Council on the Art. It is semi realistic, and somewhat dreamy. Also coming up soon is the Bronx Trolley art tour, including the hot Puerto Rican exhibit and the Longwood Gallery, known as Aires de Loiza, Culture & Nature:
A Retrospective of the Work of Samuel Lind with Masks by Raul Ayala
(September 22 – November 8, 2008), for more, click Bronx Longwood Gallery.
GALLERY M is a contemporary fine arts gallery that shows art by emerging, established, and outsider artists. The gallery focuses on presenting work by African American, Latino, and mentally ill artists.
The Gallery also conducts free talks with the general public and school groups. In addition, the gallery has an ongoing series entitled "Art in Context" which is free and is centered around current shows on view in the gallery, such as "Black Contemporary Performance Art" and "The Printmaking Process". Happy art tripping.

Harlem Gentrification and Columbia University
The New York Daily News recently highlighted the role of Nick Sprayregen, the owner of Tuck-It-Away self storage on Broadway and W. 131st St. He is attempting to resist the land grab by "eminent domain" of Columbia.
NY Daily News sells itself like the whores it is, for "development", which means let the "world university called Columbia" do whatever it wants to Harlem. Just Tuesday, at a hearing in Harlem, one pol after another denounced the Empire State Development Corp. for working with Columbia University to convert Harlem into a university campus. Of Course, daily news calls all the opposition a bunch of troglodytes.
"New York should follow the lead of other states and eliminate the use of eminent domain for private developments," read the written testimony submitted by Sen. Jose Serrano of the Bronx.
"In many instances, eminent domain is used by government officials to cobble together parcels of land for the business community to prosper at the expense of the homeowner," said Sen. Bill Perkins.
In West Harlem, there are a couple of business owners who don't want to sell. The most prominent holdout, a man named Nick Sprayregen, is a developer in his own right. He is working with one, Norman Siegel. The bottom line is that Columbia has been trying to run ethnic cleansing against Harlem since the 1968 student riots.

Street Life, Street Art Show- at Bronx Museum

Photos: 1. Collage by Jacque Del La Villeglé 2. Break Dancer 3. Professor Edward
A large crowd came to the Sunday, Sept. 14th opening of the Bronx Museum Show: Street Art, Street Life- from the 1950s to Now, at 1040 Grand Concourse, Bronx NY. The show opened with a sidewalk street fair. Moises Rivera was getting out programs for a whole bunch of Bronx art galleries including the Haven Gallery and Hostos College’s Longwood Gallery. The African Immigration Research Group from Fordham University, in the Bronx, had a table, and Professor Jane Kani Edward was out talking to people. Prof. Edward is doing oral histories of many of the African immigrants to the Bronx from the recent decades. She is originally from the Sudan. For more information, contact Prof. Edward at edward@fordham.edu .
Inside the museum, a series of photographs is on display from the late George Maciunas, with the signature photo “Street Events” featuring a line up of winter-wrapped artists posing against a wall sign. Raymond Hains and his college Jacques Del La Villeglé have a series of collages made from discarded art and music event posters. They use urban detritus in their work to get a grimy pop-art style. Notable is the action and feeling of movement and protest of Jacques De La Villeglé work, “122 Rue du Temple, 1968,” the year of mass protests in Paris.
Sze Tsing Leong has a series of large photographs of city life in Beijing
China. These photos include the construction of massive urban renewal projects and the destruction of old historic neighborhoods. Nikki S. Lee’s work shows photos of New York City, including “the Hispanic Project 1998,” a group of Hispanic women outside a building stoop. In the photo “the Punk Project 1997”, male and female punks, in all their regalia of pink hair, are displayed.

Beyonce hangs out in Harlem, Makes Video
Beyoncé, the new queen of soul, hung out in Harlem yesterday morning, working on her new video, “If I Were a Boy.” This could be time to get into a bit of S & M, because Beyonce was carrying a Taser and handcuffs, and the little girl was meaning a bit of business, out there on West 119th Street near Lenox Avenue.
The sexy singer, according to the New York Post descended the steps of a brownstone with a fellow (acting) cop and climbed into a patrol car. The single is set to be released on Oct. 7, along with, "Single Ladies." The star’s upcoming and as-yet-untitled album is a follow-up to “B’Day” from 2006, and has been touted as “her most personal, reflective and revelatory collection to date."
